The Detroit Iron Gloves edged the reeling Langley Farm Team in 11 innings at
the ballpark by the score of 5 to 4.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Detroit was
victorious in the 11th inning. Kevin Mench doubled. Marcus Giles came next
and he doubled scoring the run. Detroit totaled 10 on the afternoon.
The win went to Brandon McCarthy(2-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. The losing pitcher was Keith Foulke(0-1) in relief. With this win,
Detroit has a 30-36 record. They have been 5-5 lately. Scott Whitley was
pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately,
something like 1-9 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
